About the course

What this course is.

The DDD module works on the two levels of domain-driven design. In strategic design you cut a system into bounded contexts and record how they relate in a context map. In tactical design you fill one context with entities, value objects, aggregates and services. Between them sits the work with domain experts that produces the ubiquitous language.

DDD has no exam of its own. Attendance earns credit points toward CPSA-A admission; the certification is an assignment and an oral exam by iSAQB-appointed experts, after all admission requirements have been met.

Recommended

The curriculum expects fundamentals and advanced concepts of object-oriented software development and experience modelling object-oriented architectures.

Knowledge of agile methods such as Scrum, Kanban or XP and experience of working with a business department help.

CPSA-F is not needed to attend.

After the course you can

  • Build and maintain a ubiquitous language with domain experts
  • Derive bounded contexts from subdomains and justify the cut
  • Model entities, value objects, aggregates and services
  • Record how bounded contexts relate in a context map
  • Select context mapping patterns for team dependencies
  • Design a ports and adapters architecture for the domain model
  • Prepare and facilitate a collaborative modelling workshop
  • Argue where DDD pays off for complex business logic

This course contributes 30 of the 70 credit points required. Your total across modules must include at least 10 points in each area.

Questions before you book.

Does the DDD module have an exam?

The Albion DDD course has no exam and earns CPSA-A credit points. Certification involves an assignment and an oral exam assessed by experts appointed by the iSAQB, after all admission requirements have been met.

How many credit points does the module give?

The Albion DDD course gives 30 credit points: 20 for methodical competence, 10 for communicative and none for technical. The iSAQB DDD curriculum 2023.2 sets that split.

Do I need CPSA-F to attend?

You do not need CPSA-F for the Albion DDD course: the iSAQB states that the module can be attended independently of a CPSA-F certification. The CPSA-A certification itself does require a passed Foundation exam.

What do I get for attending?

For the Albion DDD course you receive the Albion certificate of participation from 80% attendance, with a public verification page. It depends on attendance, not on an exam.

The Albion DDD course follows the same programme online and on site.

Is there a discount for several seats?
