About the course

What this course is.

Distributing a system across services adds network calls and operational and coordination overhead. FLEX works on when that price is worth paying: you cut a system along its business boundaries, align the cuts with the teams, choose integration mechanisms, consistency and resilience patterns, and plan deployment and operations.

The module has no exam and earns credit points toward CPSA-A admission; certification requires an assignment and an oral exam after all admission requirements are met.

The curriculum expects CPSA-F fundamentals: views, cross-cutting concepts, design decisions and constraints, plus development and architecture experience in agile projects and conventional systems. Knowledge of distributed systems, modularisation and operations helps.

    Before the Albion FLEX course you receive the materials and either the joining details or the address of the venue.

  2. The course days

    The course days follow the same programme online and on site; the times are on the date you booked.

  3. After the course

    From 80 percent attendance you get the Albion certificate of participation; the credit points count toward CPSA-A admission.

This course contributes 30 of the 70 credit points required. Your total across modules must include at least 10 points in each area.

Questions before you book.

Does FLEX have an exam of its own?

The Albion FLEX course has no exam and earns CPSA-A credit points. Certification involves an assignment and an oral exam assessed by experts appointed by the iSAQB, after all admission requirements have been met.

How many credit points does FLEX carry?

The Albion FLEX course carries 30 credit points under the iSAQB FLEX curriculum 2024.1: 20 in the technical area of competence, 10 in the methodical area and none in the communicative area.

Do I need CPSA-F to attend FLEX?

You need no CPSA-F certification for the Albion FLEX course. Curriculum 2024.1 recommends the fundamentals CPSA-F teaches; only applying for the CPSA-A exam requires a passed Foundation exam.

What do I get for attending?

For the Albion FLEX course you receive the Albion certificate of participation from 80% attendance, with a public verification page. It records that you attended and depends on no exam.

Does FLEX run differently online and on site?

The Albion FLEX course follows the same programme online and on site.

Is there a discount for several seats?

A booking for several seats on the Albion FLEX course receives a group discount. The date row and checkout show whether it applies and the minimum number of seats.

Is FLEX only about microservices?

The Albion FLEX course is not only about microservices. The curriculum sets microservices, self-contained systems, moduliths and monoliths side by side and asks when distribution is worth its price.

Do I need experience with cloud tooling?

The iSAQB curriculum for the Albion FLEX course names no specific cloud tool as prerequisite knowledge. It recommends knowledge of distributed systems and operations.
