About the course

What this course is.

Two systems can be joined through a shared database, a file exchange, a remote call or a message queue. The iSAQB API curriculum 2025.1 starts there and then stays with network APIs. You compare the styles, design an API outside in from its consumers, describe it in OpenAPI, secure it and govern it with guidelines.

The module has no exam of its own. Attendance earns credit points toward CPSA-A admission; the certification itself is an assignment with an oral exam.

The curriculum expects work as an architect or in a comparable conceptual or management role, or as a developer or in a comparable technical role.

Basic IT and software architecture knowledge is enough for a broad overview of APIs.

The module can be attended independently of a CPSA-F certification.

  • Manage an API as a product through its lifecycle
  • Secure an API with HTTPS, OAuth and OpenID Connect
  • Establish API guidelines and evolve them with the teams involved

  2. The course days

    The course days follow the same programme online and on site; the times are on the date you booked.

  3. After the course

    From 80 percent attendance you get the Albion certificate of participation; the credit points count toward CPSA-A admission.

This course contributes 20 of the 70 credit points required. Your total across modules must include at least 10 points in each area.

You also need the CPSA-F (Foundation) certificate; the official rules cover the remaining eligibility and assessment requirements.

Questions before you book.

Does the API module have an exam?

The Albion API course has no exam and earns CPSA-A credit points. Certification involves an assignment and an oral exam assessed by experts appointed by the iSAQB, after all admission requirements have been met.

How many credit points does API give?

The Albion API course carries 20 credit points under the iSAQB API curriculum 2025.1: ten for technical competence, ten for methodical competence and none for communicative competence.

Do I need CPSA-F to attend?

You do not need CPSA-F for the Albion API course: the iSAQB API curriculum states that the module can be attended independently of a CPSA-F certification. A passed Foundation exam is required for CPSA-A admission.

What do I get for attending?

For the Albion API course you receive the Albion certificate of participation from 80% attendance, with a public verification page. It does not depend on any exam.

Is the API module only about REST?

The Albion API course is not only about REST. The curriculum sets RPC, resource, hypermedia, query and event styles side by side and assigns gRPC, HTTP APIs, REST and GraphQL to them as technologies.

Is the module purely technical?

The Albion API course is not purely technical. The curriculum gives its own chapters to the API economy, business models, API guidelines and APIs as the interfaces between teams.

The Albion API course follows the same programme online and on site.

Is there a discount for a team?

A group discount applies to several seats booked together for the Albion API course. The date row and checkout show whether it applies and the minimum number of seats.
