About the course

What this course is.

Physical access changes the threat model: an embedded device can be opened, probed and glitched by the person holding it. In EMBEDDEDSEC you decide what is worth protecting, model the threats against the system context, rate the risks, then choose patterns for authentication, secure boot, secure communication and hardware-backed isolation, inside the memory, energy and connectivity limits the hardware sets.

EMBEDDEDSEC has no exam of its own. Attendance earns credit points toward CPSA-A admission; certification requires a separate assignment and an oral exam.

Experience with safety-relevant or security-relevant systems helps with some concepts.

No certification is among its prerequisites, so CPSA-F is not needed to attend.
