About the course

What this course is.

SOFT runs from one prepared conversation to a group in open conflict. You analyse stakeholders and their concerns, then prepare, hold and follow up individual and group discussions. You visualise options on a whiteboard or flipchart, moderate a group to a decision, and place a conflict on Glasl's nine stages of escalation.

SOFT has no exam of its own. Attendance earns credit points toward CPSA-A admission; the certification itself is an assignment with an oral exam.

It asks for no certification: a passed CPSA-F exam belongs to the requirements for CPSA-A certification, not to this module.

  • Analyse the architecture's stakeholders and plan the communication
  • Request feedback and give and receive it by the feedback rules
  • Prepare, hold and follow up an individual or group discussion
  • Separate the factual level of a conversation from the process level
  • Select a visualisation technique that fits the room and the medium
  • Moderate a group to an architecture decision with a suitable tool
  • Tell the facilitator role apart from the decision-maker role
  • Place a conflict on Glasl's nine stages and choose a response

  1. Before the course

    Before the Albion SOFT course you receive the materials and either the joining details or the address of the venue.

  2. The course days

    The course days follow the same programme online and on site; the times are on the date you booked.

  3. After the course

    From 80 percent attendance you get the Albion certificate of participation; the credit points count toward CPSA-A admission.

Questions before you book.

Does SOFT have an exam of its own?

The Albion SOFT course has no exam and earns CPSA-A credit points. Certification involves an assignment and an oral exam assessed by experts appointed by the iSAQB, after all admission requirements have been met.

How many credit points does SOFT carry?

The Albion SOFT course carries 30 credit points under the iSAQB SOFT curriculum 2025.1, all of them in the communicative area of competence: none in the technical and none in the methodical area.

Do I need CPSA-F to attend SOFT?

You need no CPSA-F certification for the Albion SOFT course. Curriculum 2025.1 recommends only knowing the communication challenges of architecture work; a passed Foundation exam is required for CPSA-A certification.

What do I get for attending?

For the Albion SOFT course you receive the Albion certificate of participation from 80% attendance. It records that you attended and depends on no exam.

Does SOFT run differently online and on site?

The Albion SOFT course follows the same programme online and on site.

Is there a discount for several seats?

A group discount applies to several seats booked together for the Albion SOFT course. The date row and checkout show whether it applies and the minimum number of seats.

Is SOFT content examined in the CPSA-A exam?

The Albion SOFT course covers skills the CPSA-A exam does not test, as the iSAQB SOFT curriculum 2025.1 states. Candidates are still expected to use them to present and discuss their solution to the examination task.

Which models does SOFT work with?

The Albion SOFT course works with the models the iSAQB SOFT curriculum 2025.1 names, among them Schulz von Thun's four-sides model, 4MAT, Maslow's hierarchy of needs and Glasl's nine stages of conflict escalation.
